Alabama Women’s Tennis Earns Team Grade Point Average Award

The women’s team recorded a brilliant 3.9 team GPA in the fall, topping Alabama’s athletic department
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 38th-ranked Alabama women's tennis team won the team grade point average award at the 2016-17 Crimson Choice Awards. The Crimson Tide recorded a 3.9 team GPA for the 2016 fall semester, which was the best team GPA among the Crimson Tide's 17 athletics programs.
"I'm proud of our team for their strong performance in the classroom," said head coach Jenny Mainz. "They are committed to excellence on and off the court and it's evident with an impressive 3.9 grade point average. We have an incredible group of ambassadors for The University of Alabama."
Three players earned a 4.0 grade point average and were named to the President's List in the fall, including senior Danielle Spielmann, sophomore Andie Daniell and freshman Maddie Pothoff.
The Tide also had three additional student-athletes named to the Dean's List (3.5 or better GPA), including senior Erin Routliffe, junior Smith Hinton and freshman Juliana Valero.
Additionally, the team's impressive 3.9 GPA is the highest mark set by an team under Mainz in her 20 seasons at Alabama.
