Alabama Track & Field Wraps Up Competition at Mount SAC Relays on Friday

Crimson Tide now turns focus to Jim Bush Collegiate Invitational at UCLA on Saturday
TORRANCE, Calif. – The Alabama women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the Mount SAC Relays on Friday while the men sent a pair of distance runners to the Brian Clay Intercollegiate at Azusa Pacific on Friday evening.
At Mount SAC, the Alabama sprinters opened the day for the Tide with senior Quanesha Burks finishing sixth in the 100 meters in a time of 11.52. Junior Filippa Fotopoulou finished 25th in 11.95. Sophomore Stacey Destin finished 21st in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.42. Fellow sophomore Kiara Williams finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 39-7 ¼ (12.07m).
Senior Hannah Waggoner was the sixth collegiate finisher in the open 5,000 meters in a personal-best time of 16:39.46, the 10th-fastest time in school history. Sophomore Nicole Gardner was the 12th collegiate finisher in the invitational 5,000 meters in a personal-best 16:46.08.
For the men, senior Robbie Farnham-Rose was the eighth collegiate finisher in a blistering 1,500 meter race at the Brian Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific. Farnham-Rose crossed the line in a personal-best 3:41.64, the third-fastest time in school history. Senior Payton Ballard finished 39th in a personal-best 3:46.61.
In action late on Thursday night, junior Conner Thompson finished 14th in the 10,000 meters at Mount SAC, crossing the line in a personal-best 29:26.50.
Alabama will conclude its west coast swing at the UCLA's Jim Bush Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will be part of a field that includes the host Bruins, Texas A&M, UTEP and Arizona State. Competition gets underway with the women's hammer throw at 10:30 a.m. (CT). Running events will begin at 4:15 p.m. (CT) with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
