TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team earned a No. 46 national ranking announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tuesday. The Crimson Tide (6-6, 0-2 SEC) now has two singles players and one doubles team that are nationally ranked.
Alabama boasts a 32-22 mark in singles play since beginning the dual match season and has an impressive 18-11 record in doubles play.
Senior anchor Erin Routliffe earned a national ranking in singles play for the third time this season, as she came in this week at No. 59. Routliffe has a 6-2 record in singles play since beginning the dual match season.
Sophomore standout Andie Daniell remains undefeated in singles play so far this season at 9-0, as she is 1-0 and 8-0 from the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, respectively. Daniell's strong start to the spring season earned her a No. 124 ranking in this week's set of rankings, marking the first time she has earned a national singles ranking since beginning the dual match season.
Routliffe and freshman Maddie Pothoff teamed up to achieve a No. 25 national ranking in doubles play after posting an imposing 7-1 record to start the dual match season.
Last weekend, Alabama lost a pair of road matches in the state of Mississippi to officially kick off the Southeastern Conference portion of this year's schedule. The Tide lost a match that went the distance against then-No. 17 Ole Miss, 4-3, to begin league play on Friday night, before falling short to then-No. 33 Mississippi State in a 4-3 thriller on Sunday afternoon.
The Tide will be back in action on Friday, March 10, at 6 p.m. CT when it is set to host the No. 13-ranked Georgia Bulldogs at the Alabama Tennis Stadium in its first home conference contest of the season. Alabama will remain home on Sunday, March 12, when it is set to take on the No. 16-ranked Tennessee Volunteers at 1 p.m. CT.
