Alabama Opens 2017 Outdoor Track & Field Season at Bulldog Relays

Crimson Tide sending throwers, sprinters and jumpers to Starkville for first outdoor competition of the season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's track & field teams will compete in the first outdoor meet of the 2017 season this weekend when the Crimson Tide travels to Starkville, Miss. for the Bulldog Relays at Mississippi State University.
Competing for the Tide men will be junior Terry Jernigan (100 meters, 200 meters), sophomore Matthew Likely (100 meters, 200 meters), senior Josh McCullan (long jump), senior Nathan Karr (shot put), senior Hayden Reed (shot put, discus), sophomore Kord Ferguson (discus), senior Joe Williams (discus), freshman Jacob Beene (hammer throw), sophomore Will Edwards (javelin) and freshman Tanner Williams (javelin).
Women's competitors for Alabama will be junior Olivia Fotopoulou (100 meters, 200 meters), sophomore Janel Pate (100 meters, 200 meters), senior Passion Gamble (100-meter hurdles), sophomore Jada Jackson (400-meter hurdles), junior Kaitlin Walker (400-meter hurdles), freshman Esme Phillips (high jump), junior Filippa Fotopoulou (long jump), sophomore Kiara Williams (long jump), freshman Hannah Chappell (discus), sophomore Holly Julifs (discus), junior Danielle McConnell (weight throw) and freshman Samantha Zelden.
Head Coach Dan Waters' Outlook
"The indoor season surpassed our expectations but now we need to carry that momentum into outdoor competition. We have the opportunity to have a special season but it's important that we get off to a solid start."
Next Up: Florida State Relays
The Crimson Tide will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the Florida State Relays on March 24.
