GAME CAPTAINS: Alabama's captains for today's game at Auburn were offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman, linebacker Rashaan Evans, linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton and defensive lineman Da'Ron Payne.
THE ALABAMA-AUBURN SERIES: The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers met in the 82nd Iron Bowl today at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Alabama holds a 45-36-1 (.555) lead in a series that dates back to the 1893 season. The Crimson Tide and Tigers first met on Feb. 22, 1893, at Birmingham's Lakeview Park with the Tigers claiming 32-22 victory in the inaugural matchup.
Defensive Notes
TURNOVERS, TURNOVERS, TURNOVERS: With Da'Ron Payne's first quarter fumble recovery, the Alabama defense has forced at least one turnover in 40 of its last 42 games dating to the start of the 2015 season. During the current run, the Crimson Tide has forced 70 turnovers (47 interceptions, 23 fumbles) and returned 16 of those miscues for touchdowns.
MOSES LEADS TIDE IN TACKLES FOR SECOND STRAIGHT GAME: Freshman linebacker Dylan Moses racked up double-digit tackles for the second straight week, finishing with a game-high 10 stops, six of which were solo. The Baton Rouge, La., native now has 30 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss (-24 yards) on the season.
Offensive Notes
SCORING STREAK CONTINUES: Alabama's school record consecutive games scoring streak was extended to 225 games with Jalen Hurts' 36-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Jeudy in the second quarter. The Crimson Tide was last held off the scoreboard in a 9-0 loss to Auburn on Nov. 18, 2000.
CONVERTING ON FOURTH DOWN: Jalen Hurts' scramble for a first down on fourth-and-one on the Crimson Tide's second quarter scoring drive today was Alabama's 13th fourth down conversion in 13 attempts this season, which leads the nation.
RIDLEY THIRD ON NCAA ACTIVE GAMES WITH A RECEPTION LIST: With his five-yard reception on Alabama's first possession, junior Calvin Ridley now has at least one reception in all 42 games of his Alabama career and ranks No. 3 in consecutive games with a reception among active players in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
HURTS' CAREER TOUCHDOWN RESPONSIBILITY: Jalen Hurts' 36-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Jeudy in the second quarter ups his career touchdown responsibility total to 59, moving the sophomore into sole possession of second place on the UA career touchdown responsibility list. AJ McCarron (2010-13) is the UA career leader with 88. Hurts has thrown 38 career touchdown passes and rushed for 21 career scores in 27 games.
HURTS FIFTH ON UA CAREER TOUCHDOWN PASSES LIST: Jalen Hurts' second quarter touchdown pass to Jerry Jeudy gave Hurts 38 in his 27-game career, moving him one scoring toss behind Greg McElroy (2007-10), who is fourth with 39.
HURTS NOW EIGHTH ON UA CAREER PASSING YARDS LIST: With 177 passing yards, Jalen Hurts now has 4,785 passing yards in 27 career games, which ranks eighth all-time at Alabama. Scott Hunter (1968-70) is seventh with 4,899 yards.
Special Teams Notes
SEASON-LONG PUNT FOR SCOTT: JK Scott's 64-yard punt in the second quarter is a season long for the senior. Scott's previous best was 59 yards against Colorado State on Sept. 16.
SCOTT CLIMBING TIDE CAREER PUNTING LIST: Punter JK Scott's 184 punting yards against the Tigers gives him 10,576 yards for his career to extend his UA career record. He is the first punter in UA history to surpass the 10,000 yard mark. Scott's four punting attempts at Auburn puts the senior at 231 for his career, the second-most in Tide history behind P.J. Fitzgerald (2006-09), who punted 238 times in his career.
