Eddie Jackson and Amari Cooper receive league-wide recognition for their standout performances in week seven
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The seventh week of the 2017 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the week-seven highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL. Â
Eddie Jackson enjoyed a career day as the Chicago Bears defeated the Carolina Panthers, 17-3. Jackson finished with a pair of defensive touchdowns, returning a fumble recovery and an interception for a score on his way to NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The rookie safety's first touchdown came on a fumble recovery for a 75-yard return. He then followed it up by recording his first career interception, returning the pick 76 yards for his second score of the day. With the effort, Jackson became the first player in NFL history to have two 75-plus yard defensive touchdowns in the same game.
Also having a career day was Amari Cooper, who had a monster game as the Oakland Raiders defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-30, on Thursday Night Football. He finished with 11 catches for 210 yards and a pair of touchdowns, becoming the first Oakland Raiders player to record 200 receiving yards in a single game since Art Powell accomplished the feat in 1965 against the Boston Patriots. With his impressive performance, Cooper received AFC Offensive Player of the Week recognition.
O.J. Howard made his presence known in the Tampa Bay offense, hauling in six catches for 98 yards with a pair of touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 30-27 loss to Buffalo Bills. Howard's three receiving touchdowns on the season ties him for the league lead among NFL rookies.
Crossing the century mark for the second consecutive week, Mark Ingram rushed for 105 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown in the New Orleans Saints' 26-17 win over the Green Bay Packers. On the ground, Ingram is averaging 109.5 yards per contest over the last two games with three touchdowns across the span. In that same game between the Saints and Packers, defensive back Ha Ha Clinton-Dix had a solid outing, tallying eight stops to rank second for the Green Bay defense.
Seeing action for the first time all season, T.J. Yeldon posted an impressive performance as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 27-0. The Jaguar tailback rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, with his score coming on a 58-yard run in the third quarter.
Wide receiver Julio Jones recorded his first touchdown of the season as part of his nine catches for 99 yards as the Atlanta Falcons came up short against the New England Patriots, 23-7.
