Former Alabama players excelling on both sides of the ball in week six
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The sixth week of the 2017 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the week-six highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL. Â
Derrick Henry had arguably the best game of his career to date, posting his first 100-yard rushing performance as the Tennessee Titans defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 36-22, on Monday Night Football. The second-year running back rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. The score came on a 72-yard run as the clock was winding down, sealing the victory for the Titans.
A pair of former Crimson Tide standouts met in New Orleans, as Mark Ingram and the Saints welcomed A'Shawn Robinson and the Detroit Lions to town. In his best game of the young campaign, Ingram crossed the century mark for the first time this season, gaining 114 yards on 25 carries with two touchdowns. He also added five catches for 36 yards as the Saints downed the Lions, 52-38.
Opposite of Ingram, Robinson posted a career performance for the Detroit defense. The second-year lineman tallied a career-high seven tackles and added the first interception of his career, returning it for a touchdown from just a few yards out.
Mark Barron continued his impressive play, leading the Los Angeles defense with eight tackles while adding one sack in the Rams' 27-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Barron currently leads the league in solo tackles with 43 entering week seven.Â
Linebacker C.J. Mosley provided another strong effort for the Baltimore defense, finishing with 11 tackles, including one tackle for loss, in the Ravens' 27-24 overtime defeat by the Chicago Bears. Mosley is currently tied for the league lead in total tackles with 55 on the season.
In that same game between the Ravens and Bears, defensive back Eddie Jackson provided a solid effort for the Chicago defense, tallying six stops in the contest.
Safety Landon Collins picked off a pass to help lead the New York Giants to their first victory of the season, a 23-10 win over the Denver Broncos. The pick was the seventh of Collins' three-year career and is the first for him this season.
