Alabama Rowing Wins Each of its Four Races in Fall Opener at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Alabama rowing opened its fall season with four event wins at the Chattanooga Head Race, finishing with seven top-three finishes in its opening race of the fall season.
"All of our crews raced well today," UA head coach Larry Davis said. "The team won gold in all four events and took seven of a possible eight medal spots. It was a solid first step to kick off our fall racing season. The team is looking forward to racing next weekend in Boston and returning to Chattanooga in November to build on what we achieved today."
In the first race of the day, the Tide swept the top three spots in the Women's Collegiate 8+, leading the field with times of 16:39.9, 17:14.7 and 17:19.3, respectively. Alabama's fourth entry in the race finished fifth with a time of 17:55.5.
Alabama won its second race of the day in the Women's Novice 4+, finishing with a winning time of 19:31.9, besting the second-place boat by over two minutes. The Tide took the top two spots in the Collegiate 4+, crossing the line in 17:54.8 and 18:58.7, respectively. Alabama's six boats in the race all finished in the top 10, including five of the top six spots.
The Tide wrapped up the day with a win in the Novice 8+ with a time of 18:57.6.
Next up, Alabama will head to Cambridge, Mass. on Oct. 20-22 for the Head of the Charles before returning to Chattanooga for the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 4-5. The Tide will close out its fall season at home, Nov. 11, against Central Florida.
