Alabama Women’s Basketball Travels to Missouri to take on the Tigers

Game set for a 2 p.m. CT start on SEC Network +
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team (13-2, 1-1 SEC) returns to action on Sunday when it takes on the Missouri Tigers (11-5, 1-1 SEC) in Columbia, Mo., for the third time in the past four seasons. The game is scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. CT in Mizzou Arena.
THE BROADCAST
- Sunday's game will be streamed on SEC Network + via the WatchESPN app with Ben Arnet on play-by-play and Rick Moodyas the analyst.
- The game will also be available via the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 100.1 FM locally, with Roger Hoover and Tyler Williams calling all the action.

OPENING TIP
- Alabama will play its second Southeastern Conference road contest of the season on Sunday. The Crimson Tide is looking for its first victory on the road since it defeated Vanderbilt on Feb. 23, 2014.
- Junior Meoshonti Knight leads four in double figures with 13.9 points per game. She is followed by fellow junior Hannah Cook (12.3 ppg), sophomore Shaquera Wade (11.5 ppg) and freshman Jordan Lewis (10.7 ppg). Wade averages a team-best 7.1 boards per game, while Lewis has dished out a team-high 4.5 assists per contest.
- Alabama leads the nation in free throw attempts with 398 taken through 15 games. In addition, the Tide stands at No. 8 nationally in rebounds per game with an average of 46.13 boards per contest. The last time Alabama averaged over 45 rebounds for the season was in 1996-97 (48.5 rpg).
- Last time out, junior Meoshonti Knight scored a career-high 29 points in the win over Ole Miss. Her 29 points were the most scored by an Alabama player since Ashley Williams scored the same amount against Alabama A&M on Nov. 26, 2014.
SHOT-BLOCKING SENSATION
- Freshman Ashley Knight has been stellar thus far defensively in the paint. She already has 41 blocks on the season, for an average of 2.7 rejections per game.
- Her 2.7 block average ranks the Austin, Texas native first in the Southeastern Conference and 16th nationally, while her 41 overall blocks is eighth in the country.
- Knight is also tied with junior Quanetria Bolton for seventh on the Alabama single season top 10 list and is 37 away from the Tide's career top 10 list.
WATCHING WADE
- Shaquera Wade's production all over the court has nearly doubled in every category from a season ago.
- The sophomore is averaging 11.5 points, a team-high 7.1 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.5 assists. As a freshman, she finished with averages of 6.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists.
- Wade also has three double-doubles this season, the most of anyone on the team.
LEADING LEWIS
- Freshman Jordan Lewis has started every game at the point guard position for Alabama and has shown poise and confidence running the offense beyond her years.
- She is currently averaging a team-best 4.5 assists per game, ranking her fourth in the Southeastern Conference.
- Lewis has also scored double-digit points 10 times and led the team in steals four times and rebounding three times.
WILLIAMS CLOSING IN ON 1,000
- Junior Ashley Williams is 96 points away from becoming Alabama's 25th 1,000 point scorer in program history.
- Should she reach that number this season, she would be only the 13th Crimson Tide student-athlete to reach the milestone in three years or less.
GETTING TO THE LINE
- Alabama finished the 2015-16 season ranked 73rd in the nation in free throw attempts (615) and 77th in free throws made (430) while averaging 69.9 percent made per game.
- The Crimson Tide is off to another strong start getting to the line a total of 398 times, 187 more times than its opponents (211).
- Alabama ranks first in the SEC and first nationally in free throw attempts.
ABOUT MISSOURI
- Missouri enters Sunday's game with an 11-5 overall mark and a 1-1 record in Southeastern Conference play. The Tigers are 9-0 at home thus far.
- Last time out, Missouri outscored Kentucky 22-13 in the fourth quarter but came up just shy of the win, falling 64-62 on the road to the Wildcats.
- The Tigers are led in scoring and assists by sophomore Sophie Cunningham, who averages 15.6 points per game and 4.0 assists per contest. Fellow sophomore Cierra Porter leads the team in rebounds with 9.4 per game while also averaging double figure points at 15.1 per outing.
- As a team, Missouri scores 65.7 points per game, 5.6 more than its opponents, and hauls in 39.5 boards.
- The Tigers are under the direction of seventh-year head coach Robin Pingeton, who, in 2013, guided Missouri back to the postseason for the first time since 2007, and returned again the last three seasons. Prior to taking over in Columbia, Pingeton spent seven seasons at Illinois State (2003-10) after beginning her head coaching career at St. Ambrose, where she served for eight seasons (1992-2000). She holds an overall record of 447-251 over her 22 seasons as a head coach, including a 112-94 mark at Missouri.
