
Alabama’s Kara Fredlock Finals on Day One of Tennessee Diving Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama senior Kara Fredlock opened day one of the Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn., with a sixth place finish in the finals of the 3-meter springboard event Tuesday afternoon.
Fredlock was 12th after prelims, earning the last spot in the finals, after tallying a score of 271.00 over her six preliminary dives. In finals, she totaled 288.20 points to jump six places. Sophomore Margy McCarthy finished 17th in prelims (263.80 points) while senior Dakota Toner earned a top-half finish, taking 26th place (240.75 points) out of 52 competitors in prelims.
On the men's side of the meet, senior Brent Sagert posted Alabama's top finish off the 1-meter springboard event, taking 13th in prelims with 282.10 points. Junior David Morton was 26th with 247.50 points.
The three-day event is being held in the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, the site of this year's Southeastern Conference Championships. Competition continues Wednesday with the men going off the 3-meter and women off the 1-meter. Thursday will see both the men and women compete off the platform. Wednesday's competition gets started at 11:30 a.m. ET while Thursday gets underway at 11 a.m. ET.
