TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama Softball is ranked sixth for the fourth-straight week in the USA Today/NFCA coaches' poll and moved up one spot to No. 7 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball media poll.
Alabama is coming off a series win over 15th-ranked Missouri in Tuscaloosa that saw the Crimson Tide bounce back from a game one loss with two run-rule victories over the Tigers to secure the series. A matchup against the top-ranked Florida Gators awaits the Tide this weekend in Gainesville, Fla.
The top six spots in the coaches' poll remain unchanged from last week, while James Madison climbed to No. 7 and LSU dropped one spot to No. 8. Florida State and Georgia entered the top 10 as Washington and Texas A&M fell to No. 11 and 12, respectively. The same scenario played out in the media poll, though JMU jumped ahead of the Tide into the No. 6 spot left vacant by LSU, who dropped to No. 10.
In total, nine SEC schools are represented in the top 25 this week, the most of any conference: Florida (1/1), Auburn (3/3), Alabama (6/7), LSU (8/10), Georgia (10/9), Texas A&M (12/11), Kentucky (14/12), Missouri (15/15) and Tennessee (17/16). South Carolina is receiving votes outside the top 25 in the coaches' poll while Mississippi State is doing so in the media poll.
