TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - After the opening week of conference play, Alabama softball is ranked sixth in both the USA Today/NFCA poll and the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
The Crimson Tide was previously ranked fourth last week in the media poll and sixth in the coaches' poll. The top nine teams in the coaches' poll all remain in the same position from last week, with Florida State jumping from No. 11 to No. 10 after Georgia fell to No. 12. In the media poll, LSU and Alabama swapped positions with the Tigers moving to fourth and the Tide falling to sixth. That was the only movement among the top 12 ranked teams.
In total, nine SEC schools are represented in the top 25, the most of any conference: Florida (1/1) Auburn (3/3), LSU (4/4), Alabama (6/6), Texas A&M (11/10), Georgia (12/12), Kentucky (15/13), Tennessee (16/16) and Missouri (17/15). Mississippi State and Ole Miss are receiving votes outside the top 25 in the media poll.
