Alabama Women’s Tennis Finishes Play at Seminole All-Conference Showdown

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Alabama women's tennis' senior Danielle Spielmann and freshman Maddie Pothoff registered the Crimson Tide's two singles victories on Sunday afternoon to conclude the Seminole All-Conference Showdown at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. The Tide registered seven doubles wins and eight singles victories in the three-day event, which marks the last competition of the 2016 fall calendar.
Spielmann defeated UCF's Monica Matias in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, while Pothoff won her match against Kelsey Grambeau of Wisconsin in straight sets as well, 6-0, 6-1.
Junior Smith Hinton had a notable performance as she played in the singles championship of her respective draw against Nandini Das of Florida State, but she fell short in a three set thriller, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
The Tide will officially begin the 2017 regular season on Sunday, Jan. 15, when it hosts UAB at 10 a.m. CT, before taking on Alabama State later that evening at 4 p.m. CT.
