Alabama Football’s Minkah Fitzpatrick and Keith Holcombe Earn Academic All-District Honors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick and linebacker Keith Holcombe were voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, it was announced Thursday. The honor is the first for both and the 11th and 12th for Alabama since 2009.
Fitzpatrick carries a 3.34 grade point average in Human Performance/Exercise Science and leads the Crimson Tide secondary in interceptions (3) pass breakups (5) and sacks (1.5). He also shares the Alabama career record for interception returns for touchdowns (3).
Holcombe is also majoring in Human Performance/Exercise Science and has a GPA of 3.69. A regular in the defensive rotation as well as on special teams, Holcombe has 17 tackles through eight games this season and is tied for the team lead in special teams tackles.
Fitzpatrick and Holcombe now advance to the national ballot with a chance to be voted to the Academic All-America Team later this season. Alabama has earned Academic All-America honors seven times under head coach Nick Saban, the most notable being Barrett Jones, who was the first four-time honoree in CoSIDA Academic All-America history.
