The Crimson Tide took part in a two-day team-building event to close out the fall
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama baseball team participated in its annual end of the fall workout program on Monday and Tuesday. The "Tide Challenge" closed out head coach Greg Goff's first fall at The University of Alabama.
Prior to the start of the Challenge, the roster was split up into four teams which were selected and headed by associate head coach Terry Rooney, assistant coach Jake Wells, volunteer assistant coach Derek Simmons and director of baseball operations Michael Chadwick.
The Challenge began on Monday morning at 6 a.m. inside Sewell-Thomas Stadium, with players participating in three separate drills – one individual and two that were focused on a team effort. The squads then returned that afternoon for a 2 p.m. workout session split between the weight room and football's indoor facility. The midday session consisted of individual workout drills followed by a team relay race that was dedicated to strength training and teamwork.
Tuesday morning saw the teams return to "The Joe" for the final challenges of the two-day event. Each player first completed an obstacle course to earn points for their respective group before the teams took part in a tug-of-war as a unit. The tug-of-war eventually decided the Challenge winner, which was Team Rooney.
Team Rooney consisted of: Chandler Avant, Camden Bauer, Dylan Duarte, Nick Eicholtz, Sam Finnerty, Cody Henry, Brock Love, Zac Rogers and Alex Webb.
The event officially closed out the Crimson Tide's fall season and training. The team will now break for the holidays and finals before resuming work at the start of the spring semester in 2017.
