
Alabama Men’s Golf Team Closes Fall Season at Cypress Point Classic

Tide competes in unique event to finish fall slate
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's golf team will close out the 2016 fall schedule at the Cypress Point Classic, which is hosted by Stanford University at the Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.
The unique two day, 54-hole event will take place on Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,509-yard Alister MacKenzie course, which is nestled in Pebble Beach and is widely considered to be one of the greatest golf courses in the world.
In addition to the Crimson Tide, the eight-team tournament includes No. 7 Stanford, No. 8 Wake Forest, No. 11 USC, No. 15 Georgia, Georgia Tech, UCLA and Cal and will be a match play format.
The eight teams are pre-seeded No. 1 through No. 8 in order by average ranking between Golfstat and Golfweek rankings seven days prior to event. The Tide earned the No. 6 seed and will open against the third-seeded Trojans in round one.
Winners will go forward in bracket, with the losers will move to consolation bracket. Each team is guaranteed three matches in the outlined format.
Format
Day 1 - Round 1: Four-ball "best ball"
Day 1 - Round 2: Foursomes
Day 2 - Round 3: Singles Match Play
• Each team will compete with six players. Alabama's six players include Tyler Hitchner, Lee Hodges, Robby Prater, Davis Riley, Josh Sedeno, Steven Setterstrom.
• The first Crimson Tide duo consists of Prater and Setterstrom will tee off at 8 a.m. PT (10 a.m. CT). Sedeno and Hitchner are next at 8:12 a.m. PT (10:12 a.m. CT), followed by Hodges and Riley at 8:24 a.m, PT (10:24 CT). Each of the Tide's three duos will be paired against a duo from Southern Cal.
Scoring
• Four points will be available per match.
• One point will be awarded for both the front-nine and back-nine matches, and two points for the overall match.
• Each match will be played over 18 holes under format during that round. The total number of "holes won" by each side over the full 18-holes will settle ties. Teams with highest point total at the end of each round will advance in the bracket.
