TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The USC Upstate Spartans (44-9) beat the Fairfield Stags (25-24) 9-0 in the first elimination game at the 2015 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional in Rhoads Stadium.

USC Upstate returns to action immediately, facing the Washington Huskies for the right to advance to Sunday's championship game against Alabama.

Upstate scored early, with four runs in the first two innings, and then put a burst of five runs across the plate in the sixth inning to cut the game short at six innings after invoking the run rule.

Lexi Shubert picked up the win for USC Upstate, pushing her record to 34-6 on the season, while Destinee Pallotto took the loss for the Stags, finishing her season at 11-9.
