Crimson Tide Men 10th, Women 19th in National Team Rankings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The University of Alabama men's track & field men's remains as one of the nation's top 10 teams, ranking No. 10 in this week's edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Team Computer Rankings released Monday. The Tide women fell one spot from 18th to 19th after breaking into the top 25 during the first week of rankings released April 6. The women's squad maintained its second-place ranking in the South region while the men dropped from second to fourth.
During the preseason, the Tide women were ranked 29th in the NCAA. After impressive performances in the first few weeks of competition, the team made its leap into the top 25, moving up 11 spots to No. 18. This was the Tide's second-best ranking in program history. In the last installment of the rankings, the Alabama men's squad was No. 8, recording the team's second-best ranking in NCAA history.
The national team rankings are compiled by mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.
