Men's Tennis Splits Sunday Doubleheader

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 60th-ranked men's tennis team went 1-1 on Sunday, falling 4-0 to Kentucky before beating Morehead State, 4-1, at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center. Following the matches, the Crimson Tide stands at an even 14-14 overall and 2-7 in Southeastern Conference play.
Alabama lost the doubles point to the Wildcats as Kentucky picked up wins on courts two and three, but the Tide bounced back in its second match to win the first point with a pair of 6-2 victories on courts one and two. Korey Lovett and Stuart Kenyon were first to finish, topping Morehead State's Sabastian Penaloza and Nick Mercer on court two before Sean Donohue and Becker O'Shaughnessey clinched the point at the top spot, beating Ritchie Kruunenberg and Gabriel Ruiz.
UK picked up a trio of straight set wins at the top three spots in singles to earn the 4-0 team victory, which was clinched on court two. In the afternoon match against the Eagles, Alabama got wins from Andrew Goodwin, O'Shaughnessey and Sam Edwards, who clinched the victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Enrique Samudio on court five.
The Tide returns to Tuscaloosa for its final home matches of the 2015 season next weekend, hosting South Carolina on Friday, April 3, at 5 p.m. CT and Georgia on Sunday, April 5, at 1 p.m. CT.
