Fall Season Winds Down as Baseball Heads into Week Seven

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama baseball team will return to Sewell-Thomas Stadium for the seventh week of fall practice on Monday afternoon, as the fall season begins to draw to a close. Monday's session will be the first of two scheduled full practices, before the team closes out the week with a pair of scrimmages on Wednesday and Thursday.
Week seven begins following the annual Crimson-Gray World Series, which began last week and resulted in a clean 3-0 sweep by the Gray squad. The series was highlighted by Gray's walkoff win on Friday evening after losing its 5-0 early lead. Each of the games featured key pitching from Gray starters Geoffrey Bramblett, Jake Walters, and Dylan Duarte, which helped push the team to a victory each game.
Gray powered its way to a victory with a home run in each of the first two games, before using a collection of hits to moved ahead 5-0 through two innings in game three. Crimson would not go away easily, chipping away at the Gray lead before tying up the game and then scoring the go-ahead run in the ninth. With one out and runners in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, Connor Short knocked a single to help Gray regain its lead and claim the series sweep, 3-0.
Monday and Tuesday will feature regular practices before the two scrimmages on Wednesday and Thursday. The week of work will close out full team practices for the fall.
With the on-going construction at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, fans are asked to avoid entering the ballpark and construction zone. At the moment, practice is not open to the public.
