Crimson Tide in the NFL Spotlight: Week 7

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The seventh week of the season in the National Football League featured big Sundays from seven former Crimson Tide standouts, with each player’s respective team earning a victory. Below is a look at some of the highlights from last week by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Mark Ingram had another standout day, rushing 14 times for a season-high 143 yards with a touchdown in the Saints’ 27-21 win over the Colts. Ingram ranks second in the league in yards after the catch with 268. He also ranks second in the league for rushing touchdowns with five this season.
Amari Cooper continued his steady play, hauling in five passes for 133 yards and one score in the Raiders’ victory over the Chargers by a final score of 37-29. Cooper currently leads all rookies in catches (33), yards (519) and receiving touchdowns (3).
T.J. Yeldon headed to England for his matchup against the Bills and had the best game of his young career, rushing for a career-high 115 yards on 20 carries while hauling in one pass for nine yards in Jacksonville’s 34-31 win. The rookie is second among first-year running backs in yards (406), receptions (16) and touchdowns (2).
Julio Jones highlighted the Falcons passing attack once again, catching a team-high nine passes for 92 yards and the team’s only touchdown in a 10-7 win over the Tennessee Titans. One of the league’s top receivers, Jones’ 58 catches, 730 yards and five touchdowns all rank second among wideouts. He also sits at fourth for yards after catch with 248.
Mark Barron highlighted the defensive performances by former Crimson Tide standouts. Playing in his first game at linebacker, the former safety led the Rams with a career-high 16 tackles, two for a loss, in St. Louis’ 24-6 blowout win over the Cleveland Browns.
Dont’a Hightower also notched double-digit tackles, recording 10 stops and recovering a fumble in the Patriots’ 30-23 win over the rival New York Jets.
Landon Collins made nine stops in the New York Giants’ 27-20 win against the Cowboys. The first-year safety leads his team in tackles with 42 and ranks second among all rookie defenders in that same category.
