The men started off hot by claiming the doubles point thanks to wins on courts one and three. Andrew Goodwin and Danny Kerznerman defeated Terrance and Terrell Whitehurst, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot, which was followed up by a victory on court one from the duo of Korey Lovett and Becker O'Shaughnessey, who took down 24th-ranked Marco Nunez and Benjamin Lock, 6-4.
Florida State came back in the singles matches, winning four of the five that finished with the first coming on court two as No. 99 Nunez came back to win 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Lovett. The Seminoles then got back-to-back wins at the bottom of the lineup as Jose Gracia held on in a second set tiebreaker to beat Sean Donohue, 6-3, 7-6(6) on court five, which was quickly followed by a 7-5, 6-4 victory by Terrell Whitehurst from the No. 6 spot against Goodwin.
The Tide gained some momentum when Kerznerman triumphed over Cristian Gonzalez Mendez after a first set loss, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, however Florida State would close it out shortly after with Lock's 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win against O'Shaughnessey on court one.
Next up, Alabama ventures away from Tuscaloosa for its first true road matches of the season, playing at Oklahoma State and Oklahoma on Feb. 7 and Feb. 8, respectively.
