TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The football team practiced for two hours in full pads Tuesday on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields as it prepares for the Southeastern Conference opener on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium against Florida.
The Crimson Tide and Gators are playing for the 38th time with Alabama holding a 22-14 lead in the series with one vacated win (2005). The Gators are 1-0 in SEC play after a triple-overtime win over Kentucky in Gainesville last Saturday.
The Florida game begins a difficult stretch of the Alabama schedule. The Crimson Tide's future opponents (nine game) are a combined 22-3. The SEC's Western Division is even tougher at 19-1 with the only loss suffered with the division being Arkansas' defeat at Auburn to open the season.
Saturday's kickoff against Florida is set for 2:30 p.m. on CBS. Verne Lundquist will handle the play-by-play duties with Gary Danielson as the analyst and Allie LaForce on the sidelines. The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with the national broadcast on the Compass Media Network.
