Lineman Arie Kouandjio Named Capital One Academic All-America

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama offensive lineman Arie Kouandjio was named to the Capital One Football Academic All-America Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Crimson Tide's left guard has started every game this season and has started 25 games during his career. A member of the Alabama football's leadership group, the Tide is 22-3 with Kouandjio in the starting lineup heading into this weekend's SEC Championship game.
A four-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a frequent Dean's List honoree, Kouandjio carries a 3.46 grade point average while pursuing a master's degree in economic after earning his bachelor's degree in finance in December 2013. He is slated to go graduate with his master's degree on December 13th.
On the field, Kouandjio is part of a line that has given up just 11 sacks, the seventh fewest in the nation, and is helping the Alabama offense establish a record-setting pace with 5,872 yards of total offense in 12 games this season for an average of 489.3 yards per game, which is the most yards through 12 games in school history.
Kouandjio earned the Crimson Tide football team's seventh Academic All-America honors since 2009 and pushes Alabama's overall total since 2000 to 94, ranking the Tide third in the nation over that span. He joins Merel van Dongen and Laura Lee Smith, who were named the Capital One Soccer Academic All-America team earlier in the fall to give Alabama three Academic All-Americans so for in the 2014-15 school year.
