Lane Kiffin Named Broyles Award Finalist

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Lane Kiffin was named one of five finalists for the 2014 Broyles Award, which goes to the nation's top assistant coach, on Monday afternoon.
Kiffin joins Missouri's Dave Steckel, Ohio State's Tom Herman, Oregon's Scott Frost and TCU's Doug Meacham as finalists.
The Alabama offense, under the direction of Kiffin, is producing record numbers in 2014. The Crimson Tide ranks 16th nationally in total offense, averaging a school-record 489.3 yards per game and 6.7 yards per play. The Tide's 282.6 passing yards per game is also the most in school annals.
He has developed senior Blake Sims into on the nation's most efficient quarterbacks, ranking second nationally in total QBR (87.9) and is seventh nationally (first in the SEC) in passing efficiency at 159.5. He has thrown for 2,988 yards and 24 touchdowns against just seven interceptions while rushing for 302 yards and six scores.
His offense has also produced one of the best seasons by a wide receiver in SEC history with junior Amari Cooper hauling in 103 receptions for 1,573 yards and 14 touchdowns - all school records - in 2014.
