TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football continued its bye week practices on Wednesday with a two-hour workout on the Thomas-Drew Practices Fields in full pads.
It is the second of three practices this week as the Crimson Tide focuses on improving fundamentals and techniques before getting into LSU preparations. No. 3 Alabama's next contest is slated for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. It is Alabama's fourth road in the last five contest.
Crimson Tide junior wide receiver Amari Cooper has continued his torrid pace with 71 receptions for 1,132 yards. He is one yard shy of Julio Jones' single-season yardage record (1,133) set in 2010 and just seven catches shy of his single-season receptions record (78) set the same year.
Cooper leads the nation (running backs and wide receivers) with 19 plays of 20 or more yards, while accounting for 49 first-down receptions. He ranks 11th nationally in yards from scrimmage with 1,146 and averages 15.28 yards per play, which is far and away the highest per-play average among the top 11 players in yards from scrimmage.
Alabama will practice again Thursday before taking three-day break and returning to the practice field on Monday, Nov. 3.
