TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Six Alabama players were recognized by the coaching staff following Saturday's 34-20 victory at Tennessee. Amari Cooper, Blake Sims and Ryan Kelly were honorees on offense, while Jonathan Allen represented the defense. Landon Collins and JK Scott made the special teams list.
Cooper caught nine passes from Sims for an Alabama-record 224 yards and two touchdowns. Sims found Cooper on the opening play of the game on an 80-yard catch-and-run touchdown and then connected on the next drive for a 41-yard scoring strike. Sims finished with 286 yards passing while rushing six times for 42 yards and one touchdown. He accounted for 328 yards of total offense and three scores. Ryan Kelly, in his return to the lineup after missing two games with a knee injury, graded out the highest at nearly 90 percent with two knockdown blocks while not allowing a sack or hurry.
Jonathan Allen may not have had the most tackles against the Volunteers but he proved to be a disruptive force for the Alabama defense. The sophomore from Leesburg, Va., earned the most production points on the defensive side of the football while accounting for three total tackles and half of a tackle for loss.
On special teams, Scott had another solid outing at punter, averaging 42.8 yards on four punts with one punt return for a loss of four yards. He dropped three of his four punts inside the 20. Scott is averaging 46.3 yards per punt to rank fifth nationally and second in the SEC. Collins was a force on special teams' coverage units, helping produce three fair catches in punt coverage.
