Cammie Gray Wins Alabama Women's State Amateur

POINT CLEAR, Ala. - Alabama redshirt freshman Cammie Gray won the 81st Alabama Golf Association Women's State Amateur at the Lakewood Golf Club's Dogwood Course on Friday afternoon.
She defeated Lea Green of McCalla 3 and 2 in a back-and-forth match that saw the Crimson Tide's Gray take control on the first few holes of the back nine. Gray was 1 up with six holes remaining in the match but she won the 13th and 14th holes to take a 3 up lead with four holes to play.
The 15th hole was halved with pars before the match ended on the 16th with a half, giving Gray her first Alabama Women's Amateur title in just her second appearance.
Gray reached the championship match by beating Nancy Gavin (Jackson Gap) 5 and 4 along with Susan West (Tuscaloosa) 4 and 3 on Wednesday. She then knocked out 10-time champion Kathy Hartwiger in 19 holes on Thursday.
