Alabama Student-Athletes Set for Commencement Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - More than 70 Crimson Tide student-athletes are slated to earn their degrees when the University of Alabama holds its spring commencement ceremonies in Coleman Coliseum this weekend.
At least one member from all 15 Crimson Tide teams will be part of the ceremonies this weekend, including 27 student-athletes that was a part of seven Crimson Tide national championship titles (three football, two gymnastics, women's golf and softball) over the last four years.
The football team, winners of three of the last four national titles, will have 16 more graduates this weekend, including Cade Foster, Nico Johnson, Harrison Jones, William Ming, Wes Neighbors, Tana Patrick, Anthony Steen, Ed Stinson, Hunter Bush, Gilbert Cook, Rowdy Harrell, Kelly Johnson, Aaron Joiner, Parker Philpot, Russell Raines and Jeremy Shelley.
Four members of the gymnastics team's 2011 and 2012 NCAA championships teams, Scholastic All-American Becca Alexin and All-Americans and Scholastic All-Americans Marissa Gutierrez, Ashley Priess and Ashley Sledge have also earned their degrees.
The defending national champion softball team will have five graduates, including All-Americans Kayla Braud and Jennifer Fenton. They will be joined by Keima Davis, Olivia Gibson and Jazlyn Lunceford. The defending national champion women's golf team will be represented by two-time All-American Jennifer Kirby and Courtney McKim.
Men's golfer Scott Strohmeyer, a three-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, will join men's swimming and diving team captains and SEC Academic Honor Roll members Jake Reynolds and John Ellis as well as women's swimming and diving captain and school record holder Jenna Gallo in the weekend festivities.
Two-time All-SEC volleyball player Kayla Fitterer joins 2013 ITA Doubles All-American and three-time All-SEC selection Alexa Guarachi from women's tennis on the stage. Rowing team captain Tabitha Coleman will be earning her second degree this weekend and will be joined by teammates Kiffy Balchon and Jessica Parker.
Four-year starters Ashley Willis and Josie Rix highlight the women's soccer graduates while school record holder and All-American pole vaulter Alexis Paine will receive her degree as well.
The University of Alabama will hold three graduation ceremonies over the weekend with the first starting on Friday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. The Saturday ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m., and at 1:30 p.m.
