Postgame Notes from Alabama's first round NIT win

• Alabama improved its all-time NIT record to 22-14 in the event. The 22 victories gives the Tide the most NIT victories among SEC schools, surpassing South Carolina's 21 wins in NIT play.
• Junior guard Trevor Releford finished with season-high tying five steals to go along with nine points and five rebounds in the win. He now has 66 steals for the season, which is a personal high. In addition, his 66 steals ranks as the fourth-most in a season in UA history, just behind Antoine Pettway's 67 steals during the 2003-04 campaign.
• UA improves to 15-3 at home this season and has now won 11 consecutive games at Coleman Coliseum. The Tide has also captured seven straight home wins in the NIT.
• With the win, Alabama improves to 2-0 all-time when facing Northeastern. The Tide won the only other game played between the two teams on the hardwood, taking an 88-73 victory on Dec. 4, 1979 in Coleman Coliseum.
• For the 11th time this season, Alabama held the opposition to under 50 points in a game, keeping Northeastern to 43 points on the night. The Tide improves to 10-1 this year when holding opponents to 50 or fewer points in a game.
• Alabama has held 22 of its 34 opponents this season to under 60 points in a game. The Tide has a record of 18-4 when achieving the feat. In four seasons under head coach Anthony Grant, UA has held teams to 60 or fewer points a total of 74 times, going 61-13 (.824).
• UA controlled the paint, outscoring Northeastern 36-14 in points in the paint. The 36 points were the second-highest output by the Crimson Tide in the category this season (had 38 at Mississippi State on Jan. 16.
• Alabama owned a 37-27 rebounding advantage over Northeastern en route to Tuesday night's win. It was the 12th time this year UA has out-rebounded the competition, moving to 9-3 when achieving the feat. In addition, the plus-10 rebounding marking was the third-largest of the year for the Crimson Tide.
• The Crimson Tide had a 13-8 edge on the offensive glass, which resulted in an impressive 15-2 edge in second chance points.
• Northeastern attempted 12 free throws compared to 10 free throw attempts for the Tide. It marks just the second time this season that Alabama has won a game when the opponent has attempted more free throws than the UA (2-9).
• Sophomore guard Trevor Lacey is the only player to have started every game on the year.
