
Men's Basketball Centennial Celebration To Be Held March 9th

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The culmination of the 100th season of Alabama men's basketball will take place on Saturday, March 9, when the Crimson Tide takes on Georgia in the regular-season finale at 3 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
Over 100 former players, coaches and support staff will be honored during the contest, which is presented by Alabama Power and Legacy Credit Union. In addition, every fan in attendance will receive a one-of-a-kind commemorative poster representing the 100 years of Alabama basketball.
Among the former players who will be recognized include Leon Marlaire (1953-56) and Jack Kubiszyn 1956-58) of the famous Rocket 8 team, along with Alan House (1970-72), Eddie Phillips (1979-82), Ennis Whatley (1982-83), Buck Johnson (1983-86), Terry Coner (1984-87), Derrick McKey (1985-87), Gary Waites (1988-91), Melvin Cheatum (1988-91) and Rod Grizzard (2000-02), among many others. Legendary head coaches C.M. Newton and Wimp Sanderson will also be a part of the ceremony.
"There have been some great moments in the 100-year history of Alabama basketball and I'm very honored to be part of this program," head coach Anthony Grant said. "This year has provided a great opportunity to recognize the players, the history and the traditions that have been created over the past century."
