TUSCALOOSA, ALA. - Fresh off a top-five finish in the first tournament of the spring season, the University of Alabama women's golf team travels to Hilton Head Island, S.C., to begin play in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Friday.
Played at the 6,160-yard, par-71 Long Cove Club, this year's edition of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate will feature several of the nation's elite women's golf teams. Along with second-ranked Alabama, the 15-team field features No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Georgia, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 14 Tennessee and No. 21 Texas. Arkansas, host South Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest are also receiving votes in this week's poll while Central Florida, Coastal Carolina, Notre Dame, USC-Beaufort and TCU round out the field.
The 54-hole event begins on Friday, March 2, with the Crimson Tide teeing off at 8:15 a.m. (CST). Alabama will be paired with Wake Forest and Notre Dame. The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate concludes on Sunday, March 4.
Head coach Mic Potter will start Jennifer Kirby, Stephanie Meadow, Brooke Pancake, Hannah Collier and Johanna Tillström for Alabama this weekend.
The Crimson Tide rallied for a fourth-place finish on Tuesday at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate with a 3-under-par final round. Kirby, who tied for fourth individually in New Orleans with a 1-under-par 215, looks to continue her success at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
