TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama Athletic Department is preparing for an action packed weekend with five teams set to host Tuscaloosa-based events highlighted by home openers for both baseball and softball and the gymnastics team's Power of Pink meet on Friday.
After a one-year hiatus, the softball team hosts its 13th Bama Bash on Friday, Saturday and Sunday against Louisville, Syracuse and UT-San Antonio. Softball gets things underway with a Friday doubleheader, taking on Louisville at 4 p.m. and UTSA at 6 p.m.
Baseball opens its season Friday at 6:05 p.m. with Alcorn State. The Tide holds an 11-1 all-time record versus the Braves. Game two of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 2:05 p.m. with Sunday's final game coming at 1:05 p.m.
Coleman Coliseum will glow pink Friday night as the gymnastics team hosts its seventh annual Power of Pink meet to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The No. 6-ranked Tide faces Kentucky at 7:30 p.m.
Men's basketball looks to continue its undefeated home streak Saturday against SEC-rival Arkansas at the Coliseum. The Tide looks to avenge a 70-65 loss to the Razorbacks earlier this season. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
The women's basketball team wraps up the weekend with its Power of Pink game Sunday against Mississippi starting at 2 p.m. It will be the Tide's second game in the newly re-opened Foster Auditorium following a 64-59 debut win over Florida that came in front of a raucous home crowd.
Tickets for all the weekend's events are available online at RollTide.com and through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum.
