Softball Lands Three on NFCA All-America Teams

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Fifty-four student-athletes from 35 different institutions representing 13 conferences have earned the honor of being named to one of the three 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-American teams, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Wednesday. The University of Alabama had a total of three All-Americans, more than any other program from the Southeastern Conference.

Alabama's three All-Americans include second team utility/pitcher Charlotte Morgan and at-large second baseman Kayla Braud. Morgan, the SEC Player of the Year, finished the season a .361 batting average and team best 11 doubles, 17 homeruns and 74 runs batted in. The All-American honors is the third for Morgan.

SEC Freshman of the Year, Braud, led the Crimson Tide with a .505 batting average, 75 runs scored, 95 hits, four triples, 45 stolen bases and a .564 on-base percentage. The .505 average was an Alabama single season record.

The Tide's third selection came in Kelsi Dunne as the at-large pitcher on the third team. Dunne, the SEC Pitcher of the Year, finished the season 30-6 record with a 1.97 ERA. The junior from Port Orange, Fla., struck out 355 this season setting a new single season school record. This marks the third consecutive season Dunne has been named an NFCA All-American picking up first team honors in 2009 and garnering a third team selection as a freshman in 2008.

Institutions from the Pacific-10 and Southeastern conferences were featured prominently throughout all three teams, accounting for nearly half of this season's selections.
