TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Lipscomb Bisons (49-11) beat the UAB Blazers (36-21) 4-1, to close out game one of the NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional. Lipscomb had four runs on 11 hits while limiting the Blazers to just three hits on the day. UAB's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh when sophomore shortstop Kayla Orr hit a solo homerun. Junior left fielder Mackenzie Tucker led the way for Lipscomb with three hits and an RBI.
Sophomore pitcher Whitney Kiihnl picked up the win for the Bisons, running her season total to 32-3 while UAB junior Alisha Smith took the loss, dropping to 13-13 on the year. Lipscomb returns to action Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of tonight's Alabama-Alcorn State game. UAB faces the loser of tonight's contest in an elimination game Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
