TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama softball team checked in ranked No.6 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll and No. 8 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll. The Crimson Tide finished the week 2-2 after earning wins over UAB and Florida.
Heading into the first series of conference play, the University of Washington (28-2) remains the top team in the nation, clinching the top spot in ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll.
The Huskies, who picked up two wins against Portland State over the weekend, are headed into the toughest month of their 2010 schedule, kicking off a three-game home stand with No. 5 UCLA (26-4) on Thursday. Washington will also play No. 2 Arizona (28-3) April 9-11 before consecutive weekends on the road against No. 21 Oregon (24-5) and No. 14 California (28-6).
The Washington Huskies received 29 of 30 first-place votes in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll to top the rankings for the seventh consecutive week.
The rest of the top five remained virtually unchanged this week with the exception of Arizona and Missouri trading places to finish at third and fourth, respectively. Finishing just outside of the top five in sixth was Florida who was the only other team besides Washington to receive a first-place vote this week.
Notre Dame was the only team to join the poll this week, making its debut at No. 24. The Irish replaced last week's No. 25 Baylor, who dropped out of the ranking but still received votes.
