
Men's Golf at Linger Longer Invitational this Weekend

GREENSBORO, Ga. - The University of Alabama men's golf team continues its 2010 spring schedule as it takes part in the Linger Longer Invitational on March 26-28 at The Landing Golf Course at Reynolds Plantation.
It will be the Crimson Tide's second tournament in as many weeks as UA enters the tournament following a fourth-place finish at last week's Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational. Alabama is scheduled to tee off on the par-72, 7,051-yard layout at 9:30 a.m. (CDT) Friday with Kennesaw State and top-ranked Oklahoma State.
Tournament co-hosts Georgia, Mercer and Kennesaw State welcome Alabama, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Florida State, Furman, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, San Jose State, South Alabama, Texas A&M and USC-Aiken. The Bulldogs have taken three out of the last four team titles at the Linger Longer in addition to placing second in 2008.
The Alabama lineup will once again be one of the youngest at the tournament with three sophomores and two redshirt freshmen teeing off for the Tide, led by Hunter Hamrick who tied for first at last week's E-Z-GO Invitational. Hamrick is currently second on the team with a 72.45 scoring average while sophomore Bud Cauley paces the squad with 72.31 strokes per round.
Redshirt freshman Lee Knox put together the best 54-holes of his young career with a 5-over-par total of 221 in last week's tournament and enters this week with a 76.00 scoring average.
Sophomore Hunter Slatton and redshirt freshman Scott Strohmeyer complete the Tide's lineup for the week. Strohmeyer brings a 75.21 scoring average into the tournament while Slatton is third on the team behind Cauley and Hamrick with a 75.19 stroke average.
Junior Phillip Weaver will also take part in this week's action as an individual competitor.
