SEA ISLAND, Ga. – The No. 17 Alabama men's golf team closed play at the SEC Men's Golf Championships on Friday, finishing play in 11th overall with a team total of 6-under par 834 (272-279-283).
The Crimson Tide was led by William Jennings throughout the championship as he tied for third overall, carding a three-round total of 10-under par 200 (64-66-70). It marks his fifth top five finish in UA's 10 tournaments played this season.
As a team, Alabama finished just outside the top eight cut line for match play, which begins Saturday morning.
Head Coach Jay Seawell Comments
"It's the SEC Championships and getting into that top eight is tough. You have to have a very good week, and I thought we were just a little off here and there. I'm proud of the boys for battling back today. We got close and were within a stroke but just couldn't finish off the comeback. I think there are still some things we can learn from this week, build off and take with us to NCAAs. I told the team our time at the SEC Championships has ended, but it's not the end of the season. We are going to come back home, take care of school and exams and then turn all our focus into our preparation for NCAA Regionals."
