William Jennings (-5) and Jonathan Griz (-2) combined to shoot 7-under par to lead the Crimson Tide in Monday’s opening round
MARANA, Ariz. – Alabama's men's golfer William Jennings carded a 5-under par 67 and is in third place after the opening round of the NCAA Marana Regional on Monday. As a team, the Crimson Tide sit in sixth overall with a team total of 2-under par 286. The top five teams at the regional along with the top individual from non-advancing teams will move on to the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California from May 29-June 3.

Round One Highlights
- William Jennings finished his round with a bogey and six total birdres, including three consecutive to close out his opening round
- He is in a tie for third overall, two shots back of William Love (Duke) and Cole Kirby (Arkansas State) who are tied for the clubhouse lead at 7-under par
- Jonathan Griz also had a solid round that featured six birdies to go along with four bogeys on his way to 2-under 70 total in round one
- Griz will enter Tuesday's second round in a tie for 14th position
- Brycen Jones is at even par 72 and in a tie for 28th overall
- Connor Brown and Nick Gross are tied for 60th after carding identical scores of 5-over par 77
Team Highlights
- Top seed Oklahoma State (-11) and regional host No. 3 seed Arizona (-11) are in a tie for the opening round lead, two shots better than No. 2 seed LSU (-9)
- No. 5 seed Duke (-6) and No. 8 seed Arkansas State (-6) round out the top five teams, four shots better than No. 4 seed Alabama
- Combined, the top six teams are the only ones in the 14-team field that shot par or better on day one
