Women's Golf Begins Play at Tiger/Wave Classic Friday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama's seventh-ranked women's golf team returns to action on March 12-14 at the 2010 Tiger/Wave Golf Classic at the par-72, 6,132-yard English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans.
The 23-team field at the Tiger/Wave Golf Classic includes 10 teams for the SEC: the Crimson Tide, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, co-host LSU, Mississippi State, Mississippi, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
The field also consists of eight teams in this week's Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and eight teams in the top 20, including No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 Purdue, No. 7 Alabama, No. 11 Tennessee, No. 15 Georgia, No. 16 Wake Forest, No. 17 Virginia and No. 20 LSU.
The Crimson Tide will use the same lineup that won the Lady Puerto Rico Classic last month, which includes junior Camilla Lennarth, true freshman Jennifer Kirby, sophomore Brooke Pancake, senior Rhea Nair and senior Helena Blomberg.
Lennarth is the 11th-ranked individual nationally and leads the Crimson Tide with a 71.85 stroke average. She has not finished out of the top 11 individually in any of UA's five tournaments this season and has carded seven rounds under par and four rounds in the 60s.
Kirby ranks 25th nationally and is second on the team with a 72.85 stroke average over 13 rounds this season. Pancake is close behind with a 73.77 scoring average while ranking 53rd in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
