TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The University of Alabama men's basketball team returns home to begin a three-game non-conference homestand on Tuesday evening against Lipscomb at 7 p.m.
The contest will be available online via TideTV and across the airwaves on the affiliates of the Crimson Tide Sports Network. Tickets for Tuesday's game are also available at the special holiday break price of $8 for adults.
The Crimson Tide returns to the friendly confines of Coleman Coliseum where the team is a perfect 5-0 this season. In its last outing, the squad dropped a 68-60 decision to Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City to fall to 5-6 on the season. JaMychal Green led UA in that effort with 16 points while SEC freshman of the week Trevor Releford added 12 points and four assists.
Facing the Tide will be another tough squad as Lipscomb travels to Tuscaloosa with a 7-2 record and five straight wins after defeating Kennesaw State, 99-73, on Saturday.
"They're a very physical, very aggressive team," UA head coach Anthony Grant said of the Bisons. "I think when you look at the first game of the year, they go into North Carolina and battle and have a chance in that game. They go to Baylor and battle again and have a chance to win the game. So I think right now they certainly have our attention and respect, and we're going to have to play extremely well to be able to have a chance to win the game tomorrow."
Adnan Hodzic is Lipscomb's top interior threat with 21.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while Josh Slater adds 19.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
The Bisons' only losses on the season have come to then-No. 8 North Carolina in the season opener and to No. 9 Baylor. Head coach Scott Sanderson, the son of former UA head coach Wimp Sanderson, boasts an offense that is seventh in the nation in scoring with 85.6 points and has scored 98 and 99 points in its last two games.
Meanwhile, Alabama has held its opponents to 58.1 points per game and only two of UA's 11 opponents have scored more than 70 points while five have been to held to 50 or fewer points.
The two programs have met once before with then-No. 8 UA winning, 80-58, on Dec. 29, 2006.
Following Tuesday's game, the team will take five days off from competition before returning to the court on Dec. 28 against Pepperdine.
