TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football team held a brief practice in shells (shorts, shoulder pads and helmets) Thursday afternoon at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
"The Alabama-Tennessee game is certainly a signature game for our fans and our alumni," head coach Nick Saban said. "There have been some great games in this series through the years. I think you can kind of throw out everything, from record, what happened last week, in the first game of the year and all that stuff."
As the team held its final practice before Saturday's showdown with the Vols, Coach Saban stressed that the Crimson Tide cannot take Tennessee lightly.
"This is a big game for both teams and they certainly have a very capable team," Saban said. "I think Derek (Dooley) has done a fantastic job with the team that he has. They're well-coached, they play sound and they put themselves in a position to have a chance to win games against good competition."
Alabama will hold a walkthrough Friday before flying to the Smoky Mountains later in the day. The seventh-ranked Crimson Tide will face off against the Volunteers Saturday evening at 6 p.m. (CDT) before a national audience on ESPN. Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe will have the call from Neyland Stadium.
