"We played really well in the first half and had all the possession," Alabama head coach Todd Bramble said. "We hit the post four times and had plenty of chances. It's disappointing but now our players need to recover emotionally and mentally and can't feel sorry for themselves. We need to wake up in the morning and get after it."
After coming out of the intermission locked in a 0-0 tie, the Wildcats opened the scoring in the 55th minute when Caitlin Landis scored off a punt from keeper Sydney Hiance.
Just four minutes later Kentucky would score again. Laura Novikoff headed home her first goal of the season when she connected on a free kick from Alyssa Telang.
Alabama would pull within one when senior Victoria Frederick netted her third goal of the season. The forward buried a shot off a rebound in the 76th minute.
Kentucky would add the insurance goal in the 82nd minute when Natalie Starr scored her first goal of the season.
Alabama out-shot Kentucky 17-11 with Frederick leading all players with seven shots. Tide goalkeeper Justine Bernier tallied four saves on the evening.
Alabama will continue its road trip as it will head to Nashville, Tenn., to face off against Vanderbilt. The two teams will play on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m.
