"Vanderbilt was better offensively and their defensive commitment was at a level where they deserved to win," Alabama head coach Todd Bramble said. "It was a rough road trip but I hope we learned some valuable lessons. None of those lessons though we can associate with positive feelings as we come home."
Candace West opened the scoring just two minutes into the contest when she bent in a corner kick for her fourth goal of the season.
The Commodores then tacked on its insurance goal in the 54th minute on a penalty kick by CJ Rhoades. Alabama out-shot Vanderbilt 8-7. Justine Bernier allowed the two goals and made two saves while Rachel Bachtel shutout the Tide for just the second time in SEC play and the third time this season.
Alabama will return home for its final regular season match of the season at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The Tide will host Georgia for Senior Day on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
