Alabama earned its 19th run rule victory of the season by defeating MVSU 12-3 in five innings Friday night.
The run-rule victory is the fifth in regional play for Alabama and the third against Mississippi Valley State in the postseason. The other two run-rule wins over MVSU came in 2005 and 2006.
Alabama has now won 15 out of its last 16 games. The streak started against Kentucky when the Crimson Tide swept the doubleheader on April 14.
Over the last 16 games junior Charlotte Morgan batted .500 (19-for-38) with three home runs and 15 RBI. Ashley Holcombe closely follows with a .487 average, adding a team-leading five home runs and 26 RBI. Alabama pitchers sport a 0.98 ERA in 100 innings over that span.
