Noting the #2 Crimson Tide No. 2 Alabama (35-3, 15-2 SEC) rolled through its competition this week with a 4-0 record that included a three-game SEC sweep of 10th-ranked LSU ... UA has reeled off 14-straight wins, including nine-consecutive SEC victories ... UA head coach Patrick Murphy reached a milestone on Charlotte Morgan's dramatic three-run walk-off home run in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader as he captured his 500th win at Alabama ... making the moment even more memorable was he did it against LSU's head coach Yvette Girouard, who gave Murphy his start as an assistant softball coach at Southwestern Louisiana in 1990 ... Murphy is now 502-152 (.768) at Alabama and 530-172 (.755) as a head coach ... as a team Alabama hit an astonishing .381 vs. a strong-LSU pitching staff with nine doubles, two triples and five home runs for a .714 slugging percentage ... to start the week, the Tide nearly got a perfect game from senior hurler Chrissy Owens on Wednesday, April 2, at Samford as UA won 4-0 ... Owens retired the first 20 Bulldogs she faced before surrendering a two-out, two-strike double that skipped just under the glove of a diving Brittany Rogers in left-center field ... Alabama hosted 10th-ranked LSU for a three-game set over the weekend at the Alabama Softball Complex and delivered a decisive sweep of the Tigers ... it was the Crimson Tide's first sweep of LSU in Tuscaloosa ... the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader proved to be one of the greatest games in Alabama softball history as the Tide overcame three deficits of at least two runs and won the game in the bottom of the 10th inning on Charlotte Morgan's three-run walk-off home run ... Kelsi Dunne was a warrior in the circle as she pitched the first nine innings and threw 195 pitches ... Alabama capture the second game of the doubleheader in dominating fashion with an 8-0 five-inning run-rule of the Tigers ... Morgan threw a complete-game in the circle, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts ... she also went 2 for 3 at the plate with a RBI and two doubles ... UA asserted itself quickly once again in the finale, exploding for four runs in the third inning to complete the sweep, 8-1 ... Morgan again baffled Tiger hitters, surrendering just four hits and one run for her second complete-game in as many days ... Morgan also provided the power in the lineup, going 2 for 3 at the plate with a two-run home run, two RBI, a double and two runs scored ... Morgan almost single-handedly knocked out the Tigers over the weekend with two wins in the circle, a 0.58 ERA in 12 innings, two complete-games, eight strikeouts and a .140 opponent batting average ... at the plate she was even better with a .500 (5 for 10) batting average, three doubles, two home runs, six RBI three runs scored, a .583 on-base percentage and a 1.400 slugging percentage ... Morgan hit .538 (7 for 13) for the entire week ... Dani Woods also had a strong week at the plate, going 4 for 9 with a home run and four RBI in three starts before missing the LSU finale with a bruised hand ... Lauren Parker hit .455 for the weekend with four RBI, five runs scored and a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning in the first game vs. LSU that tied the game and kept the Tide alive ... Kellie Eubanks batted .429 with a home run and six RBI over the weekend while slugging 1.143 with a .636 on-base percentage ... Rogers swiped three bases and had two doubles with three RBI ... she leads the country with 40 stolen bases ... Alabama begins a seven-game road trip on Thursday, April 10, at Troy before traveling to Auburn for a three-game SEC series next weekend.
