
Vic Moten Named Top 10 Finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year

The Daphne, Ala., native is top 10 in the SEC in wins, ERA and strikeouts
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama freshman pitcher Vic Moten was selected Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a top 10 finalist for the 2026 NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year.
The Daphne, Ala., native is 18-4 this season with a 1.84 ERA and 151 strikeouts, all of which rank in the top 10 among SEC pitchers. She started in a combined no-hitter in her collegiate debut against Villanova (Feb. 5) and has since earned ranked wins over Florida State, pitching a complete game shutout (Feb. 20), and Texas, guiding the Crimson Tide to a series-securing win in game three (April 4). She has earned SEC Freshman of the Week and SEC Pitcher of the Week honors, as well as national recognition from D1Softball and Softball America.
The list of 10 will be narrowed to three finalists on May 20, with the winner announced on May 26 in Oklahoma City prior to the start of the Women's College World Series.
