
Women's Golf Places 7th at SEC Championships

LOUDON, Tenn. - The Alabama women's golf team shot its consecutive round of 307 on Sunday to finish the Southeastern Conference Women's Golf Championship in seventh place. The Tide finished with a final score of 921 (+57) at the par-72, 6,310-yard Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn.
Florida took the team title with a score of 874 (+10) to out-pace runner-up Arkansas by 17 strokes. Stacy Lewis of Arkansas earned the individual title with a final score of 214 (-2), firing an even-par 72 on Sunday to finish off championship play.
Alabama junior Kathleen Ekey and freshman Camilla Lennarth paced the Tide on the final day and finished tied for 15th place at 227 (+11). Ekey carded a final round score of 75 (+3) while Lennarth finished the day with a 76 (+4).
Senior Sarah Sturm completed her final SEC Championship with a final score of 229 to finish in 19th place. Sturm carded a final round score of 78 (+6) and tallied three birdies on the day, a tournament high for her.
Freshman Courtney Harter finished off her first SEC Championship with a 54-hole score of 238 (+22) to finish in 40th place. Harter shot a final round score of 78 (+6) and sank a birdie on the par-4, 10th.
Rhea Nair turned in her best round of the championship with a 79 (+7). Nair parred 12 holes and found birdie on the par-4 10th.
Alabama returns to action in postseason play with the NCAA Regional Championship. The tournament is slated to begin on May 8, with a time and location to be determined on Monday, April 28.
