TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? With just under a month remaining until the opening of the 2008 campaign, the Crimson Tide softball team has already set a record. As of Jan. 9, Alabama softball fans have bought 1,360 season tickets to set a new season-ticket sales mark for the program.
Alabama finished with a 55-10 mark last season, the third straight 50-win season under head coach Patrick Murphy. The Tide earned its ninth consecutive NCAA berth in 2007 and advanced to the Super Regionals before falling to Washington to end the season.
Murphy and his team set a goal of selling 1,250 season tickets for the 2008 season, a mark that was eclipsed shortly after the Tide completed its perfect 4-0 march through fall competition. With the current mark of season tickets sold, the Alabama softball program is just 235 tickets shy of officially selling out for the season, even though some general admission and standing-room tickets will remain if all season tickets have been sold.
Fans may still purchase season tickets from the UA ticket office. The following season ticket packages are still available: individual bleacher-back season tickets for $35 each and a group package of four bleacher-backs for $100. Chair-back season tickets have been sold out.
The Alabama ticket office can be reached on the phone at (205) 348-2262 locally and (877) TIDETIX toll free. Tickets can also be purchased online via the ticket office link on RollTide.com or in person at the UA ticket office portals in Coleman Coliseum, open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on week days.
Alabama will also play an exhibition game against the U.S. Olympic team this spring on April 15 in Birmingham. Fans interested in purchasing tickets for this event should go to the Alabama Amateur Softball Association's web site at www.alabamaasa.com/OlympicTeam.html or call the ASA office at (256) 413-0716.
