Dear Crimson Tide Fan:
As we approach the holiday season, I want to extend my very best wishes to each of you as we close out this calendar year. Certainly, when we reflect on 2007, we should count our many blessings and be thankful for our family, friends and faith. Speaking on behalf of everyone affiliated with the athletic department, I want to thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing many of you at our bowl game in Shreveport.
While our ticket sales have been brisk, I encourage those of you who can't attend to consider supporting the Crimson Tide by participating in buying tickets for military personnel in the Shreveport area. You can get more detailed information on rolltide.com but the price of the tickets are $25 each and you can add two points to your Tide Total Priority Points for each ticket purchased.
This is a tremendous way to reach out to the many military personnel stationed at the Barksdale Air Force Base and Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk.
I want to tell you about a great new opportunity to help Crimson Tide athletics, while at the same time earn bonus points in our Tide Totals points program. In early September, we kicked off our new A+ Incentives Program. The A+ Program has everyone in mind and rewards its members with a multitude of amenities based upon varying levels of annual gifts to the Crimson Tide Foundation. Thus far, donations to the A+ Program have exceeded $150,000, all of which is going toward the funding of athletic scholarships.
From now until February 1, 2008, anyone joining any level of the A+ Program will receive a one-time "signing bonus" of 50 points in our Tide Totals points program. (Fifty points in Tide Totals equates to a $5,000 contribution to TIDE PRIDE or a $2,500 contribution to the Crimson Tide Foundation.) In addition to the 50 bonus points, you'll receive two points for every $100 contributed.
To become a charter member of the A+ Program and receive your 50-point Tide Totals "signing bonus," please go to www.rolltide.com/APlus, click on JOIN NOW, and follow the prompts.
Endowing our athletic scholarships is critical to the future of our program in all sports and the A+ Program will be the vital fund-raising link to our future.
Let me close by saying that there are number of athletes graduating this Saturday from the University, but one former football player will also receive his degree, my old teammate Joe Namath. I think this is a remarkable achievement in his extraordinary career and serves as a reminder to all of our athletes how special it is to graduate from the University of Alabama.
Roll Tide!
